Some weddings are just so dang good, they will forever be etched in my heart, and this wedding at Hotel Ocho set the standard. With Hanna and John, they felt immediately like forever friends.
First of all, Hanna’s sleek contemporary wedding dress from Loversland took my breath away. The luxurious crepe fabric draped so beautifully, and the subtle train adds just the perfect amount of drama. The clean lines, the modern silhouette – it was effortlessly timeless and exquisitely sophisticated.
Their day was filled to the brim with thoughtful, heart-filled details. They had planned their wedding day at Hotel Ocho so that it was both fun and meaningful, but they had also left room for spontaneity and sweet unexpected surprises. I had this idea about the champagne spray celebration photo and when we had a bit of downtime after portraits (because we worked on creating a timeline was so well-cushioned!), John’s groomsmen immediately left to get some champagne and just a few minutes later, they were all celebrating and cheering in the streets. Their reception was also filled with energy and so much laughter as the guests iced the groom and the couple also spontaneously did a round of flip cup in between speeches! The speeches were heartfelt and funny, and there were lots of laughs and happy tears.
Hotel Ocho is one of my all-time favourite downtown Toronto wedding venues for just this very reason. It has an intimate atmosphere for every guest to feel close and cozy to all of the energy and emotions. The hotel’s vintage decor, exposed brick walls, and wooden beams create a warm and inviting ambiance that sets a romantic tone. The cozy dance floor fills easily and is inviting for guests to easily join in on the party. It’s the perfect venue space in downtown Toronto, where you can be near the bustle of the city but host all of your precious memories in a perfectly intimate atmosphere.
As the night drew to a close, Hanna changed into a stunning second reception dress and the couple led their guests onto a wild dance floor. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day, full of love, joy, and unforgettable moments.
